Musical Inspiration: Saves The Day, Brand New, New Found Glory

Sound: Pop-Punk

When did you form as a band?

The original band was already active when they asked me to play bass in 2007. But our sound and dynamic changed at that time, too. By 2009, it was me, Andy Stambaugh, Jon Robbins, and Jordan Tomb. That year, I went off to college, and they moved to Pittsburgh and started the band Crash City. Then, one random day in 2013, Andy and I decided to play an acoustic set at Coyote Joe’s in DuBois, PA. We spent the day rehearsing four Taking Back Sunday songs and four Brand New songs. We played that night, and so many people turned out for it, and it was just one those times where you wonder why you ever took a break in the first place. So we decided that we were going to eventually do a project from there on, and it ended up being a full-length album years later!

What musicians do you draw your inspiration from?

Bands such as Saves the Day, New Found Glory, Brand New, Northstar, and Head Automatica, mostly.

Also, Andy Stambaugh (who produced and wrote for this record) made such a difference. We have always connected and agreed on music. So when I gave him the acoustic demos, he heard them for what they could be, he added musical and vocal parts, and just overall really brought these songs to life. His heart was in it just as much as mine, and I think that made all the difference.

What is your most memorable performance experience?

Years back, we played a music festival, called The Rockdown, where about a thousand people were locked inside this high school for 24 hours. The Clarks were the main band that night. We went on around 4 in the morning, and literally nobody wanted to hear us. The entire audience consisted of people trying to sleep. They totally hated us- you could just see it on their faces, but we played a full set and laughed the entire way through it. I’ll never forget it.
