Victor Abendano

Victor Abendano, is a Mexican born, Texas raised singer songwriter. He has been writing and playing music for over 20 years. Victor Abendano has led a colorful life. Growing up as an illegal immigrant and then a ward of the state of Texas. He has led a life of trouble but found his way and served in the USMC Reserves and was in OIF II in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004.

Since returning, Abendano has become a struggling singer songwriter. Working by day and playing shows by night. After struggling several years in Texas and Pittsburgh, Victor moved to Ruston, LA where he met producer and musician, Monty Russel. Together with longtime associate James Cook, they assembled musicians Russell likes to refer to as the “Pegram Hippie Collective.” The work began on Victor’s first EP, Seasons Pass. With Cook on Bass, Dan Cohen on Guitar, Ben McDonald on Keys, and Kent Slucher on drums accompanying Victor’s syncopated finger picked acoustic guitar, Seasons Pass began to take life in a way Victor had never imagined.

Down in Texas Russell turned to Grammy award winning accordion player Joel Guzman and Austin’s Tijuana Trainwreck horns, a staple in the Shinyribs show, to give the EP the right amount of Texas spice. With the addition of Russell and singer-songwriters Bethany Raybourn and Mionne Destiny on vocals, the album was completed and shipped on the very day Victor left Ruston to move to his new life in Pittsburgh, PA.

With album in hand, he has been trying to establish himself in the Pittsburgh scene, while trying to remain a high presence in Rainbow’s life. He released a Live album, Victor Abendano with Jelly, Live at the Back Bar, in 2019. He is currently working on New EP with Monty Russell and James Cook scheduled to be released Christmas 2020.
